Keema Cooking Instructions

1. Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat.

2. Add the spice blend and cook for 2—3  minutes, or until the spices are browned, stirring occasionally to prevent burning. 

3. Turn heat to medium high.

4. Add the ground meat (or tofu) and tomatoes.  

5. Cook for 10—15 minutes, breaking up the lumps of meat., or until the meat is browned.  (To remove additional fat when the meat is done, drain it in a colander and then return it to the pot.)

6. Add the ketchup and green peas.  Stir and cook for another 5 minutes, or until the green peas are warmed.

This dish can be prepared ahead and reheated on the stove.  It is not recommended to reheat in the microwave, since meat cooked in a microwave can develop a strong taste.

You will also need:

· 2 Pounds ground beef, lamb, Turkey, or extra firm tofu (crumbled)

· 2 Tablespoons of Vegetable oil

· 1 Cup (8 oz.) diced tomatoes

· 2 Tablespoons of Ketchup

· 1 Cup (8 oz.) Green Peas (optional, can be frozen)

Preparation time: 5—10 minutes

Cooking time: 25—35 minutes
